Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Murrieta, California, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence. Ideal for animal lovers eager to launch a career in pet care.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, deliver full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, recommend wellness solutions, and upsell services/merchandise to hit sales goals. Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, monitor pet health, and assist across departments as needed. Follow all company policies for a safe, humane environment.

Daily Operations

• Conduct check-ins/check-outs and reminder calls
• Ensure pet safety and immediate vet transport if required
• Perform end-of-day maintenance per checklists

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and composure under pressure. Flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays required. Physically demanding: lift 50+ lbs, stand/walk extensively, work in wet/noisy conditions with pet hair.
