Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under supervision of expert stylists, mastering bath, brush, and full grooming services while delivering exceptional pet parent experiences. This position emphasizes safety, salon excellence, and sales growth in a fast-paced retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute supervised grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane pet conditions, performing daily maintenance.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and rebooking to ensure seamless experiences.
- Respond to pet health issues promptly and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a dynamic environment with pet hair and moderate noise.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (experience)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and handle physical demands (experience)

- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
