Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams through our renowned Grooming Academy. This entry-level position builds foundational skills in best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. Ideal for animal lovers eager to launch a rewarding career in pet grooming.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and promote salon sales.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, and client records with exceptional service.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues promptly.
- Assist across departments and contribute to store goals.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. Successful candidates demonstrate strong communication, organization, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical stamina to lift 50+ pounds in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Proficiency in computers and composure under pressure are essential.

Responsibilities

- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-ins, and check-outs
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety protocols
