Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Naperville, Illinois, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence. Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, and promote sales. Ensure humane conditions, respond to pet health issues, and assist across departments as needed while upholding company policies.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Performing supervised grooming services per standards
- Greeting clients, handling check-ins/outs, and rebooking
- Maintaining salon sanitation and safety protocols
- Selling merchandise and services to boost salon metrics
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
