Role Overview

The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under supervision of expert stylists, mastering bath, brush, and full grooming services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional customer experiences. This position supports store operations, salon sales, and upholding our mission of superior pet care.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver supervised grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
• Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
• Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions, performing daily maintenance and end-of-day checklists.
• Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and immediate response to pet health issues.
• Collaborate across departments and embody our culture of Belonging and Recognition.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. Successful candidates demonstrate composure under pressure, strong communication, organizational skills, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.
