Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role involves hands-on learning of best-in-class grooming services under expert supervision. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver exceptional salon experiences, and uphold our vision of pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level position offers a clear path to professional grooming certification and career advancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls while recommending wellness solutions.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane conditions for all pets.
- Drive salon sales through merchandise recommendations and achieve productivity targets.
- Monitor pet health, respond to emergencies, and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred but not required—complete our technical exam and Salon Academy for success. Ideal candidates thrive under pressure, possess strong communication and organizational skills, and are comfortable lifting 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential, along with computer proficiency and a passion for pets.
