Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while delivering positive experiences for pets and their parents, upholding our vision, mission, values, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and promote sales.
- Maintain salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues.
- Assist other departments and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Requires flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, computer proficiency, strong communication, organization, and composure under pressure.
