Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage with pet parents and their pets to deliver best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
- Enhance pet parent experience through greetings, consultations, reservations, check-in/out, and reminder calls.
- Drive salon sales by recommending merchandise, services, and wellness solutions.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane conditions; respond to sick/injured pets.
- Assist other departments and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred with a possible technical exam. Required: Completion of PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification, computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends/holidays), strong organization, attention to detail/safety, and communication skills. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled, moderately noisy environment.
