Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in New London, Connecticut, you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level role offers flexibility and growth in a dynamic pet retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
- Greet pet parents, manage reservations, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and maintain client records.
- Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales, and drive salon metrics.
- Ensure salon cleanliness, pet safety, and immediate action for sick/injured pets.
- Assist in other departments and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, attention to detail, composure under pressure, and computer proficiency. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled, moderately noisy environment. Flexible scheduling required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
