Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive salon experiences. Uphold our vision of pet safety, cleanliness, and exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon sanitation, promote sales, and assist with pet emergencies or other store duties as needed.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy training and safety certification. Demonstrate safe technical skills, composure under pressure, strong communication, and organizational abilities. Be flexible with evenings, weekends, holidays; capable of lifting 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment with moderate noise.

Physical Demands

Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, reach; lift up to 50 lbs frequently, team lift 100+ lbs; work in wet areas with pet hair and occasional mechanical parts.
