Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Newport News, Virginia, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, ensure humane conditions, and promote sales to hit targets. Assist with sick/injured pets and other store duties as needed.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy training and safety certification. Demonstrate safe technical skills, composure under pressure, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and proficiency in computer applications. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and communication are essential. Physically capable of standing, lifting 50+ lbs, and working in a pet hair-filled environment.
