Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams through our renowned Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on mastering industry-leading grooming techniques while delivering exceptional salon services under supervision. Uphold pet safety, store cleanliness, and outstanding pet parent experiences in a dynamic retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon hygiene, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and rebooking to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Respond swiftly to pet health issues and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Required Qualifications
- Completion of PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification.
- Flexibility for evenings, weekends, holidays; physical ability to lift 50+ lbs.
- Strong communication, organization, and composure under pressure.
Preferred Skills
Prior grooming experience (technical exam may apply), computer proficiency, and passion for pet care. No advanced experience needed—training provided!
