Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams through our renowned Grooming Academy. This entry-level position builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences. Advance your career in pet grooming while contributing to store cleanliness and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations and recommend wellness solutions based on pet needs.
- Deliver outstanding pet parent service: greet customers, manage reservations, conduct check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and rebookings.
- Drive salon sales by promoting services and merchandise to achieve targets.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane conditions; respond to pet health issues immediately.
- Assist other departments and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
PetSmart seeks passionate individuals post-Grooming Academy completion. Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Key traits: computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends/holidays), organizational skills, attention to safety, and strong communication. Physical demands include standing, lifting 50+ lbs, working in wet/hairy environments with moderate noise.
