Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide top-tier salon services while upholding our vision of pet safety, cleanliness, and exceptional customer experiences. This entry-level position is perfect for animal lovers eager to launch a rewarding grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Build safe technical skills exceeding company expectations.
- Enhance pet parent satisfaction through consultations, reservations, check-ins/outs, and personalized recommendations.
- Drive salon sales by promoting services and merchandise.
- Maintain impeccable salon hygiene, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane pet conditions; respond to pet health issues immediately.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, computer proficiency, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
