Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming after completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Under supervision from expert stylists, you'll learn best-in-class techniques for bathing, brushing, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, exceptional customer service, store cleanliness, and contributing to salon sales goals in our North Vancouver location.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supervised full-service grooming including nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and promote services/merchandise.
- Handle salon operations: greetings, reservations, check-ins/outs, reminders, and record-keeping.
- Maintain impeccable salon hygiene and take action on pet health issues.
- Support store-wide tasks and uphold our culture of Belonging.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred (technical exam may apply). You need PetSmart Academy completion, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, computer skills, and strong communication. Thrive under pressure with attention to detail and pet safety.

- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
