Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence. Ideal for animal lovers eager to launch a career in pet care.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, maintain client records, and recommend wellness solutions. Uphold salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist in other store areas as needed. Prioritize pet health by identifying issues and coordinating vet transport.

Daily Operations

• Conduct check-in/out procedures and reminder calls
• Ensure humane conditions and end-of-day maintenance
• Follow all company policies for safety and service

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Must be flexible with evenings, weekends, holidays, and physically capable of standing, lifting 50+ lbs, and working in a wet, pet-hair-filled environment with moderate to high noise.
