Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams through our renowned Grooming Academy. This entry-level position builds foundational skills in best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences. Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues promptly.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, client records, and promotional activities to exceed metrics.
- Assist across departments, upholding company vision, values, and policies.
Experience & Skills
PetSmart seeks passionate individuals post-Grooming Academy completion. Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Key traits: computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling, organizational prowess, and strong communication. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and working in a pet-filled environment.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (experience)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and handle physical demands (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bath, brush, grooming, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary services
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to meet targets
- Assist in other store departments and follow company policies
