Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Olathe, Kansas, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction. Ideal for animal lovers eager to launch a grooming career.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, ensure humane pet conditions, and promote services to drive sales. Assist with sick/injured pets and collaborate across departments as needed.

Daily Tasks Include:

• Executing services per PetSmart standards
• Client consultations and rebooking
• End-of-day cleaning and maintenance
• Sales promotion and metric achievement

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred; must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays essential. Physical demands: lift 50+ lbs, stand/walk extensively, work in wet/noisy environments with pet hair.
