Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, maintain client records, and recommend wellness solutions. Ensure salon cleanliness, promote sales, and assist with pet safety protocols. Flexibility to support other store departments as needed.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Delivering positive pet parent experiences in-person and via phone.
- Upholding humane conditions and immediate response to sick/injured pets.
- Driving salon metrics through merchandise sales and rebooking.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computer applications, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Physical ability to stand, lift 50+ lbs, work in wet/noisy environments, and handle evenings/weekends/holidays essential.
