Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in Onalaska, Wisconsin, you'll train under experienced Pet Stylists, mastering industry-leading grooming techniques through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences. Advance to full Pet Stylist upon academy completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and client records.
- Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales, and upsell merchandise to hit salon targets.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions; perform daily maintenance.
- Monitor pet health, transport sick/injured pets to vets as needed, and assist other departments.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek passionate individuals with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible scheduling required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
