Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Orangeville, Ontario location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while delivering positive experiences for pets and their parents. Uphold our vision, mission, values, and strategy while sharing responsibility for store cleanliness, pet safety, and recommending solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and maintain client records. Promote salon sales, recommend merchandise/services, ensure salon cleanliness and humane conditions, respond to pet health issues, and assist other departments as needed. Follow all company policies and participate in our culture of belonging.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply); must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification. Proficiency in computer applications, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, strong organizational skills, attention to detail/safety, composure under pressure, and excellent written/verbal communication required. Physical demands include standing, lifting up to 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), stooping, reaching, and depth perception.
