Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Orchard Park, New York, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, ensure pet safety, and assist other departments as needed. Respond immediately to sick or injured pets, including vet transport.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply); must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, communication, and ability to work flexible hours including evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled environment. Proficiency in computers and composure under pressure required.
