Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Orland Hills, Illinois, you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls.
- Recommend wellness solutions, sell merchandise, and drive salon sales targets.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, monitor pet health, and assist in other store areas.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible scheduling required including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
