Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Orlando, Florida location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role, obtained after completing PetSmart Grooming Academy, focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and promote sales to achieve targets. Maintain salon cleanliness, identify sick/injured pets for vet transport, and assist other departments as needed. Uphold company policies for humane conditions and pet safety.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Requires strong communication, organizational skills, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, ability to lift 50+ lbs, and composure under pressure. Proficiency in computer applications and depth perception for safe pet handling essential.

- Attention to detail and composure under pressure (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, and grooming services including nail trims and sanitary care
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-ins, check-outs, and rebooking
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to meet targets
- Assist in other store departments and respond to pet health emergencies
