Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under expert supervision to master bath, brush, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, exceptional customer service, salon maintenance, and driving salon success while upholding our vision of Anything for Pets.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supervised grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and ensure positive experiences.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues immediately.
- Drive sales through merchandise recommendations and rebooking to hit salon targets.
- Assist across store departments and participate in our culture of Belonging and Recognition.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred (technical exam may apply), but passion for pets is key. You need PetSmart Salon Academy completion, computer skills, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and the ability to lift 50+ lbs. Strong communication, organization, and composure under pressure are essential.

- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work under pressure (experience)
