Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's expert grooming teams. After completing our Grooming Academy, you'll provide top-tier salon services while prioritizing pet safety, parent satisfaction, and salon excellence. This entry-level position is perfect for animal lovers eager to launch a grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Build safe, proficient grooming skills exceeding company benchmarks.
- Engage pet parents with personalized recommendations for health, wellness, and merchandise to boost sales.
- Handle salon operations: greetings, reservations, check-ins/outs, client records, and reminder calls.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues promptly.
- Collaborate across departments and uphold PetSmart's culture of belonging.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible availability (evenings/weekends/holidays), physical stamina (lifting 50+ lbs), and excellent communication/organizational skills.
