Role Overview

The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences while contributing to store cleanliness and sales goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
• Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and promote services/merchandise.
• Maintain salon sanitation, conduct end-of-day cleaning, and ensure humane conditions for all pets.
• Handle check-in/out procedures, client records, reminder calls, and immediate action for sick/injured pets.
• Assist other departments and uphold company policies.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling under pressure, strong communication, organizational detail, computer proficiency, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands: lift 50+ lbs, stand/walk extensively, climb, stoop.
