Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Owings Mills, Maryland, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while engaging pet parents and ensuring top-tier salon services, pet safety, and store cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and consultations. Recommend wellness solutions and merchandise to boost sales. Maintain salon sanitation, handle pet health issues promptly, and assist other departments. Uphold company policies while contributing to a positive pet parent experience.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling, customer service, computer proficiency, composure under pressure, strong communication, organization, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.

- Promote salon sales, achieve targets, assist other departments as needed
