Role Overview

The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart’s experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you’ll engage with pet parents and pets to deliver best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. This entry-level position in Pace, Florida, is perfect for passionate animal lovers ready to launch a rewarding career.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to hit targets, ensure salon cleanliness, and respond to pet health issues. Assist other departments as needed and follow all policies.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred with a possible technical exam. Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling, customer service, organization, communication, and physical ability to lift 50+ pounds in a fast-paced, wet environment with moderate to high noise. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
