Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Paramus, New Jersey, you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver top-tier salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level role offers a path to becoming a skilled groomer while contributing to store operations.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, ensure pet safety, and assist other departments. Follow all policies for a humane, sanitary environment.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled setting. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, and holidays required; computer proficiency essential.
