Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide top-tier salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences while contributing to store cleanliness and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
- Engage pet parents with recommendations, reservations, check-ins, and consultations.
- Maintain salon sanitation, handle sick pets, and promote sales to hit targets.
- Assist other departments and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Must handle physical demands: lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping in a pet hair-filled, noisy environment. Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays essential.
