Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. Located in Peoria, Illinois, you'll engage pet parents and contribute to store cleanliness and sales goals.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-in/out procedures. Promote salon sales, recommend wellness solutions, maintain impeccable salon hygiene, and respond to pet health issues. Assist other departments as needed and follow all company policies.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred with a possible technical exam. Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling under pressure, strong communication, organizational prowess, computer proficiency, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment with moderate to high noise levels.
