Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Peterborough, Ontario, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding pet safety standards while learning industry-leading grooming techniques.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and client records. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to hit targets, maintain salon cleanliness, and ensure humane conditions. Assist with sick/injured pets and other store duties as needed.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Requires computer proficiency, strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include lifting up to 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), standing, stooping, and depth perception.
