Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, you'll receive hands-on training from industry-leading groomers through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe grooming skills while delivering exceptional salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety and outstanding pet parent experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and promote salon services to drive sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues immediately.
- Upsell merchandise and wellness solutions based on pet needs.
- Assist in other store areas and follow all policies for a collaborative environment.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. Successful candidates demonstrate composure under pressure, strong communication, organizational skills, computer proficiency, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled setting. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.

Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bath, brush, grooming, nail trims, and sanitary services per PetSmart standards
- Recommend health/wellness solutions and merchandise to pet parents
- Manage salon check-in/out, reservations, client records, and reminder calls
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety protocols
- Drive salon sales, achieve targets, and assist other store departments as needed
