Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Philadelphia, PA location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role, obtained after completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, focuses on developing safe grooming skills while delivering exceptional salon services under supervision. Uphold our vision of pet safety, customer satisfaction, and store excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Engage pet parents by recommending solutions, managing appointments, and promoting sales to meet targets. Maintain salon cleanliness per checklists, ensure humane pet conditions, and respond immediately to sick/injured pets. Assist other departments and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and composure under pressure. Flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays required. Physically demanding: lift 50+ lbs, stand/walk extensively, work in wet/noisy environments with pet hair.

Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bath, brush, grooming, nail trims, and sanitary services per PetSmart standards
- Recommend health/wellness solutions and merchandise to pet parents
- Manage salon check-in/out, reservations, client records, and reminder calls
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety throughout shifts
- Promote salon sales, achieve targets, and assist other store departments as needed
