Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Philadelphia, PA location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role, obtained after completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist across departments while upholding pet safety and company policies.
Daily Operations
- Engage pet parents via phone, in-person, and register
- Perform maintenance and end-of-day cleaning
- Identify and address sick/injured pets promptly
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, communication abilities, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment.
