Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Phoenix, Arizona, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe grooming skills while delivering exceptional salon services and pet parent experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and client records.
- Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales, and drive salon productivity metrics.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane pet conditions; handle sick/injured pets promptly.
- Assist other store departments as needed and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling, customer service, computer proficiency, composure under pressure, strong communication, organization, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, holidays required.
