Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe grooming techniques while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive salon experiences. Uphold our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards while contributing to store cleanliness and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and make reminder calls. Recommend wellness solutions, promote merchandise, and drive salon sales. Maintain impeccable salon hygiene, respond to pet health issues, and assist other departments as needed. Follow all company policies.
Physical Demands
Stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds (team lift 100+), stoop, kneel, and work in a wet, pet hair-filled environment with moderate to high noise levels. Depth perception required.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, ability to handle pressure, flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends/holidays), strong organization, communication, and safety focus essential.
