Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our expert Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, salon cleanliness, and exceptional pet parent service. Advance your career in pet care with structured training and real-world application.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon hygiene, promote sales to hit targets, and assist other departments as needed. Ensure immediate action for sick/injured pets and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply); must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping in a pet hair-filled, moderately noisy environment. Flexible schedule for evenings, weekends, holidays essential.
