Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence. Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Engage pet parents to recommend solutions, manage appointments, promote sales, and maintain impeccable salon cleanliness. Ensure humane conditions, respond to pet health issues, and contribute to store-wide success.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Performing supervised grooming services per company standards
- Handling check-ins, check-outs, and client communications
- Upholding safety protocols and salon maintenance
- Driving sales through recommendations and promotions
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. Successful candidates demonstrate composure under pressure, organizational prowess, strong communication, and physical capability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.

- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and rebooking
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety protocols
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to meet targets
- Assist in other store departments and follow all company policies
