Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Port St. Lucie, Florida, you'll receive hands-on training from our expert Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on mastering industry-leading grooming techniques while delivering exceptional pet parent experiences and upholding pet safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Build relationships with pet parents by recommending wellness solutions, managing appointments, and promoting salon services to meet sales goals.
- Ensure salon cleanliness and humane conditions through daily maintenance, end-of-day checklists, and immediate action on sick/injured pets.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client consultations, rebooking, and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
