Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe technical grooming skills while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive salon experiences. Uphold our vision of pet safety, cleanliness, and exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services like bathing, brushing, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon sanitation, promote sales to hit targets, and assist with sick/injured pets or other departments as needed. Follow all policies for a safe, humane environment.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled setting. Flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, and holidays required. Computer proficiency essential.

Physical Demands

Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, reach, and lift frequently in a wet, noisy environment with pet hair and moderate mechanical exposure.
