Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming after completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Under supervision from expert stylists, you'll learn best-in-class techniques while delivering exceptional salon services, ensuring pet safety, and building lasting relationships with pet parents.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and conduct reminder calls.
- Recommend wellness solutions, merchandise, and services to boost pet health and salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues immediately.
- Collaborate across departments and uphold PetSmart’s values of Belonging and Recognition.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, attention to detail, composure under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and working in wet, noisy environments with pets.
