Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Raleigh, North Carolina, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence. Ideal for animal lovers eager to launch a career in pet care.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Engage pet parents to recommend solutions, manage appointments, maintain salon hygiene, and drive sales. Ensure humane conditions, respond to pet health issues, and assist store-wide as needed.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Performing supervised grooming services per company standards
- Greeting clients, handling check-ins/outs, and rebooking
- Cleaning and sanitizing the grooming area
- Promoting merchandise and services to boost salon metrics
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and working in a pet hair environment. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, and holidays essential.
