Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under supervision of expert stylists, mastering bath, brush, and full grooming services while prioritizing pet safety and exceptional customer experiences. This position supports store operations, sales goals, and our commitment to humane care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supervised grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and promote salon services/merchandise.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane conditions for all pets.
- Handle pet health issues promptly, assist other departments, and contribute to sales targets and store metrics.
- Uphold company policies, participate in our Belonging culture, and adapt to a dynamic retail environment.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, computer proficiency, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a pet hair-filled, moderate-noise setting. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, holidays required.
