Role Overview
Our Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide top-tier salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences. This entry-level position builds foundational grooming skills while contributing to store success.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and upsell services/merchandise.
- Handle salon operations: greetings, reservations, check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and record-keeping.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues.
- Drive sales targets and assist other departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, pet-handling skills, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment.
