Role Overview

The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level position builds foundational skills while contributing to store operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
• Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
• Enhance pet parent experience through greetings, consultations, reservations, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls.
• Drive salon sales by recommending merchandise, services, and wellness solutions.
• Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions; handle sick/injured pets promptly.
• Assist other departments and follow all company policies.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling, organizational skills, attention to detail/safety, and strong communication. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping in a pet hair/wet environment with moderate noise.
