Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Richmond, BC location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding pet safety standards while learning industry-leading grooming techniques.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness per checklists, promote sales to hit targets, and assist across departments. Ensure immediate action for sick/injured pets and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, communication abilities, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, and composure under pressure. Computer proficiency required.
Physical Demands
Role involves standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs frequently (team lifts over 100 lbs). Depth perception essential for safe pet handling.
