Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction. Ideal for passionate animal lovers ready to launch a grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to hit targets, ensure salon cleanliness per checklists, and respond to pet health issues. Assist other departments as needed and follow all policies.
Physical Demands
Stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), work in wet/pet hair environments with moderate to high noise. Depth perception and composure under pressure required.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam possible). Must complete PetSmart Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek strong communication, organization, computer skills, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Passion for pets and safety focus essential.

- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety protocols

- Assist in other store departments and follow all company policies
