Role Overview
Our Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from expert groomers through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Under supervision, you'll master full-service grooming while ensuring pet safety, salon cleanliness, and exceptional pet parent experiences. This entry-level position is perfect for animal lovers eager to launch a rewarding grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supervised grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon hygiene, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and rebooking to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Respond to pet health issues promptly and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled setting. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.

- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet hair environment (experience)
